Oceanica IP has provided consultancy services to WIPO, UNESCO, SPC, PIFS, and the International Labour Office, supporting projects across the Pacific and internationally. Our work includes advising on intellectual property policy, traditional knowledge protection, genetic resources, and folklore, as well as delivering training, research, and legislative reviews in partnership with regional and global institutions.
Recent Works
UNESCO IP & Copyright Consultancy – Fiji, Vanuatu & Solomon Islands (2024 – 2025)
Oceanica IP partnered with UNESCO to support the creative economy across Fiji, Vanuatu, and Solomon Islands, focusing on copyright awareness, legal reform, and capacity building within the music industry.
As part of this regional consultancy, Oceanica IP:
- Organized and facilitated workshops on music copyright, intellectual property, entrepreneurship, and digital monetization
- Worked closely with local artists, musicians, and cultural stakeholders
- Authored the Musicians’ Copyright Workshop Working Document, a practical guide used during capacity-building sessions
- Provided mentorship and drafted policy recommendations to improve national IP and copyright frameworks
- Delivered a final report with tailored action steps for each country
This project was part of the broader “Economic Transformation in the South Pacific” initiative, aimed at empowering the creative sector through sustainable and inclusive IP development.
ACP-EU Culture Programme Mentorship – Pacific Region (2024)
Through Oceanica Intellectual Property, targeted mentorship was provided under the ACP-EU Culture Programme to support grantees and stakeholders in the creative and cultural industries (CCIs) across the Pacific.
As part of this engagement, Oceanica IP:
- Delivered expert guidance on intellectual property, copyright, and traditional knowledge
- Led mentorship sessions on topics such as IP protection, contract drafting, cultural rights, and indigenous knowledge systems
- Emphasized the need for national traditional knowledge laws, greater regional consultation, and government support for cultural IP
- Documented key takeaways and strategic considerations to improve future regional IP dialogue and training delivery
This work helped equip creatives, organizations, and policymakers with the tools to better protect their rights and cultural expressions within their local legal frameworks.
